 Introduction to Inner Wheel Club Of Talegaon Dabhade

In India, women generally shy away from presenting their problems to others, due to many reasons. This is more so in case of rural area. In order to solve such women related problems and to educate the women of rural area, the energetic Anns of the Rotarians of Talegaon Dabhade decided to come under one banner and to work for the betterment of women, as it was not possible for the Rotarians to redress these problems.

Hence the Anns of Talegaon got together and formed 

INNER WHEEL CLUB OF TALEGAON DABHADE 

 Having received the formal Charter on 6th  November 1997, the Club was formally installed on January 2, 1998, with 28 members and now having a strength of 35 members in 3 years.

 

 

 

  PROJECT COMPLETED DURING THE YEAR 

STUDENT ADOPTION    The Club decided to adopt 3 school children, by way of meeting all their school expenses incurred during the year. 

SOCIAL AWARD  An award was given to the best social worker among ladies, who had done yeoman’s work in field of social work during the year. 

FREE MEDICINE A project was undertaken to provide free medicine to those rural people who subside below poverty line, and have travel up to almost 40/45 km to get medical treatment. Almost Rs. 20,000/= worth of medicines were distributed during the year. These were mainly procured as donations from various Medical Companies, who have free samples. 

BREAST FEEDING    An entire week was devoted to create awareness among rural women the advantages of Breast Feeding. Help was received from a team of Gynecologists who volunteered to provide medical advise for the same. Women coming to the local hospitals were given such advise at the hospital and mobile van was provided to visit those in far-flung areas.

 COMPUTER AWARNESS    A seminar was conducted, especially for ladies to create Computer Awareness and Training Programme. Women of rural area were taught the importance of computer in modern day life.

ANAND MELA FOR MENTALLY HANDICAPPED CHILDREN Students of Jeevan Dhara, a school for mentally handicapped children, were taken for a joy ride and an Anand Mela was organized for them. They were taken to a carnival were the student enjoyed to their fullest. It was a moving experience. 

TEACHERS DAY On the occasion of the teacher’s day, 5 physically handicapped teachers were felicitated for their contribution to the society.

HEALTH EDUCATION FOR TEENAGE GIRLSA seminar was organized, to educate young girls on what care should be taken and such related problems on their attaining puberty. About 175 to 200 girls attended the seminar.

IIW DAY On occasion of International Inner Wheel day various programmes for women wereorganised , competition were held for dance, art work etc. and prizes were given.

HALDI KUNKU A general programme was organized on occasion of haldi kunku, on general awareness, cleanliness, education, pregnancy, vaccination for young kids, etc. for women of rural area.

MAHASHIVRATRI DAY On the occasion of Mahashivratri a booth for providing drinking water and cold drinks free of cost was erected on the foothills on Ghodeshwar Hill, a place of pilgrimage. About 10 to 12 thousand people were served. This project was well received by people and is expecting that this be repeated.

PUBLIC AWARENESS A public awareness was conducted for vice eradication thru poster, so also awareness for environmental conservation was done.

WOMEN’ DAY On occasion of women’s day an awareness programme for small family was conducted.Any woman having 2 kids, and agreed to family planning operation, was awarded fixed deposit of 501/=.

SELF-EMPLOYMENT A sewing machine was presented to a poor lady to enable her to start her own business.

SMALL SAVINGS A project was undertaken to educate rural women the importance of small saving. 25 women took part in the project.

MASS MARRIAGE The club fully participated in the Mass Marriage project of Rotary Club of Talegaon Dabhade.

DONATION TO ORPHANAGE Having received a call for help from a local orphanage having about 200 orphan children, For having sports equipment, the club donated such equipment as football, carom, table tennis kit etc. The entire items were procured as donations from social-minded individuals. This was a one-time project.

SUMMER CAMP A Summer Camp for school children was arranged in the local school, wherein the Children were taught horse riding, scouting, physical training etc. This project is done once a year.

MOTHER / DAUGHTER IN MEETTo end the centuries old Mother In Law and Daughter In Law, `WAR’, the club arranged a humorous play to point out the evils of such WAR. Needless to say the play was well received. Though this was a one-time project, request were received to arrange more such play on different problems. Under consideration.

FAMILY PLANNING A seminar was arranged for the women of Talegaon and surrounding areas to explain the advantages of family planning, methods of avoiding pregnancy and having a small family, which in turn leads to a happy family and culminates in population control.Project conducted once a year.

HEALTH EDUCATION FOR TEENAGE GIRLS A seminar was arranged to educate young girls on what should be done after attaining puberty, what care to be taken and such related topics. Project done once a year.

SENIOR CITIZEN FELICITATION Senior citizens, being the foundation stone for any society, were felicitated.
