HISTORY OF TALEGAON DABHADE
Surrounded by mountains of
the Sayhyadari range, amidst greenery all over and having a beautiful natural
panoramic view, Talegaon Dabhade is a quaint little town, located on the busy
Mumbai Pune national highway and having a population of approx. 55000,
encompressed within an area of 24 sq miles, being administered by the local
Municipal Council. Talegaon Dabhade is well connected to the commercial capital
of India as mentioned, and also to various parts of the country thru roads,
railways and air, the nearest airport been Pune airport which is approx. 24
miles away.
As regards amenities Talegaon Dabhade can boast of having schools collages for Various educations well connected water supply, electrical supply, and hospitals incl. a century old general hospital for treating T B and such related decease Also there are free run municipal schools for the poor etc.
Traditionally being a agricultural area, with most of the population in farming, with the moving wheel of economy, the town is slowly blending into a industrial area, with number of multinational companies coming up in and around the town, thereby opening the doors of prosperity for the local people by way of service employment and self employment, as ancillaries for these MNCs.
Having a history of almost 200 years, people of this
Talegaon Dabhade have a rich cultural heritage and are maintaining the same thru
various organization set up to promote music, dance drama sports etc. In fact
couple of these organizations have also performed in foreign countries where
their performance was well received. This town can also boast of having people
of all religion, caste, and creed living harmoniously with each other with out
fear of any communal tensions.
There are many villages on the periphery of Talegaon, whose inhabitants are in farming, that to seasonal crops, depending on uncertain rainfall, which acts a restraint on their income. Also the advent on industrialization brings with it the evils associated with it. Many also practice unwanted traditional concepts. All these results in a certain section of population living below poverty lines, and this is where NGO like Rotary can step in.
